Our 2018 RAM ProMaster 3500 has a step on each side of the front bumper that helps me reach the windshield. They aren't very deep and can be slippery, especially after treating the bumper with a plastic preservative.
We found a new product from OpenGlass Van Mods that adds a little more grip to the step.
Here's a close-up of a step as delivered by RAM.
and here it is after adding a front step grip.
The included instructions are simple. They stress making sure the area is cleaned of any wax or plastic oils.

The grips are adhered with a 3M peel and stick high bond material.
Beth suggested using a strip of painters tape to position the grip in place before peeling one half of the backing off. After that, the tape can be removed and the remaining part of the grip is pressed down and adhered. Her method made it easy to keep the grips aligned during installation.
The new grips look good and I feel more secure stepping up to access the windshield. I wish that RAM installed these in all their step-up bumpers for safety.
We will update this post after using them for a bit to let you know how well they hold up.
If you have experience with these, or other grips, please leave a comment.
