Started the day cleaning clothes before heading north to the big city. Laundry facilities are always a welcome bonus when staying with friends.
Thankful for landing an appointment, we arrived in Missoula for an 1130 evaluation of my broken tooth. Dr. Green at Discovery Dental Group saw me and offered several options. Knowing the tooth was already weak, we opted for a crown. Expecting it would take several visits, we were thrilled to find out they could make one on site, today! Dr. Green imaged my tooth, and tweaked a 3D model on screen as I observed. He even let me go in and watch the computerized 3D mill create the crown. I was amazed to be walking out the door at 1340 with a new crown.
After lunch and indulging in a milkshake, we headed north past the impressive upwelling of the Mission Mountain Range.
Passing through Polson we couldn't help noticing the Miracle of America museum stretching alongside the highway. They appeared to have a little bit of every kind of vehicle.
Stopped at Van City in Kallispell to visit with Ron whom we had met at the Big Timber campout last month.
If you don't think a camper van is roomy enough, this rig had just been delivered. A new trailer by Chinook matches their van.
We reversed course after Kalispell to meet up with Doug and Janet. They were camping up the Swan and invited us to join them. We could have used the ham radio as the site was remote enough that there wasn't any cell service.
Janet found us as wandering the dirt roads and guided us to the right spot.
Doug built a roaring fire and grilled shrimp with veggies. Served in lettuce wraps, they were delicious. As were the s’mores for dessert.

Woke to Loon calls and “smoke” on the water. Walked with the dogs passing trunks of old cedars sawed by hand. They are higher than current cuts because men stood to use manual cross cut saws.
Beth and Janet went kayaking while...
I tried to get photos of a muskrat...
and a cedar waxwing.
One happy dog accompanied Janet on the stern of her kayak.
A walk along the water revealed two bucks and one doe, plus four loons.
A bridge was seriously blocked to vehicular traffic at both ends, so became a perfect place for relaxing with a view.
Back at the campground we had way too many snacks, the Schott’s grilled burgers, and we contributed pasta with pesto. Shared the last of the Mystical Stout from Stevensville before bringing out blueberries with chocolate wine sauce from Texas. That indulgence was followed by s’mores while we played a round of Farkle (Doug won). Cruiser’s midnight called us back to the van as loon calls echoed across the water.
Many thanks are due to Doug and Janet for all their hospitality over the past few weeks. We wish we lived closer as we truly enjoyed their company.
